Allergen Free Chocolate & Avocado Tart

 miffy007.jpg

I had a very intriguing tart for afternoon tea at work this week.

Chocolate & Avocado Tart.

No wheat. No eggs. No dairy. No tree nuts.

I am going to try and track down the recipe  but I do remember some things about it I can tell you now:

  • the “biscuit like” crust was made from dates, coconut, and I believe, coconut butter
  • the (beautifully set) filling had avocado, cocoa, and again, i think cocoa butter, maybe molasses, but I could be mistaken there

It sliced beautifully, looked gorgeous and would be a fabulous recipe for the collections of those with allergies, or those friends who embrace a raw-foods diet.

Let me see what I can do to get the recipe. I’ll get back to you 🙂

  1. Intriguing indeed. Not a combination I would have thought of. I can’t even imagine what the flavor was like. I if you come up with a “recipe” I would LOVE to know. My mother eats at least one avacado everyday, she is going to be so excited.

  2. Hi allergymom- lovely to “see” you!

I have the recipe! I contacted the company that had supplied it and they were so kind and accomadating. They sell raw and organic foods, and conduct retreats and seminars on healthy living.

The flavour is intriguing – but if you are used to substituting allergen trigger foods with other things – you’ll love it 🙂

I’ll post the recipe over the weekend with some more info on the company and taste and texture etc of the tart – oh, and a photo too!

    have a lovely weekend xx:)

  3. Rosie, you know that anytime “allergen free” Shows up on your site I will be there! I am so glad you got the recipe, that was very generous of them. I can’t wait to see it. I was curious too, is this a sweet or savory tart? It’s lovely “seeing” you again too, enjoy your weekend! 🙂

  4. Hi,
An intriguing combination there, in the tart. I remember that I had, years ago, a mousse as a dessert made with avocado . When I think about it, it was probably avocado, whipped cream, sugar and some sort of flavouring essence all whipped together. The colour was lovely. Mummyogg
