For those friends who read my Christmas lunch post , you would have seen the roast vegetables we had with our turkey and ham. I love roast vegetables and do them often. Christmas day saw me doing just carrot and potato, more often than not the mix will also contain halves of tomatoes, sweet potato [...]

Still Waiting For A Lotus…
Last Christmas monty bought me this beautiful pot. He sealed up the bottom drainage hole and I went online and ordered 2 lotus rhizomes.
BEAUTIFUL LOTUS PHOTO HERE
The photo in the above link is a free photo- anyone can use it for any purpose they like: private or commercial. I would have loved to have posted it [...]

sweetrosie’s beautiful Christmas presents
I just had to share with you 2 of my beautiful Christmas gifts.
This clock was from monty and Myf – so sweetrosie! I just adore it and it’s up in the kitchen already.
This gorgeous package of goodies is from my mum.

Boxing Day Dinner
What a perfectly lovely meal we had last night! I have to share, even though I forgot my camera…very stupid mistake, as dinner was at my mother’s and she is a fabulous cook with the most beautiful sense of charm and style you can imagine. Her platters and dinnerware, her table setting: all perfect.
France is [...]

Christmas 2007
I hope that your Christmas day was as beautiful and perfect as mine was.
From beginning to end, a lovely day.
We were all up at about 8am, and it was straight into the lounge for the presents. Myf can’t wait for the gift opening, but we did tell her to hold her horses while we made coffee. [...]

Vanilla Bean Ice-Cream
This is for serving with the Christmas pudding. I will make packet custard too, but will liven it up with a grate of nutmeg and a slurp of brandy. I would like to say I’d be making custard or sweet white sauce from scratch…. my Mum might get the urge after dinner. You never know [...]

Christmas Grocery Shopping
The shops were all open at 9am this morning. Usually it’s 11am on a Sunday. When I walked into the supermarket I was actually the only one there! It soon started to fill up though. By the time I drove over to Norwood Foodland for the turkey, it was kind of packed ( and that [...]

Macaroni Cheese
It’s been a busy week. Christmas things to organise. Trying to get the house nice. Finishing up at work for the year. The week flew by.
Meals during the week were a bit hit and miss. One night we even had sandwiches at 9pm
I did make Myf and monty’s favourite too – macaroni cheese [...]

Nigella in Her Nightie
Last night Nigella did something I’ve always wanted to do. She went to work in her nightie.
There she was. The Domestic Goddess, all her make-up on, hair flopping about, in a sea-foam green peignoir making corn cakes or something on a griddle.
My silky wrap would have been flapping open at the front, splodged with oil, [...]

Sweetrosie’s Chicken Curry Kapitan
It’s no secret that I love Malaysian and Singaporean food. Chicken Curry Kapitan is another favourite dish that finds it’s way onto the menu quite often.
The best version I ever had, and have never come close to reproducing, was cooked for us on a trip to Penang. The cook was monty’s family amah back when he was [...]
